What are Settlements in Fallout 4?
The building mechanic is completely new to Fallout 4, not being seen in any previous Fallout games. You can take over settlements (whether already built up or abandoned), acquire some residents who you’ll encounter in the wasteland and give them a place to live and work.
It’s by far one of my favourite new features to the Fallout game series, as I love building and thinking about defences. We saw it expanded on lightly in Fallout 76 where you carry around a personal home, but I do hope we see the system back again in a future single-player game.
PS4 Restrictions on Fallout 4
Unfortunately, the PS4 has some pretty tight restrictions when it comes to modding. Sony don’t allow any external assets. They only allow files in their .esp or .esm format. This means that new models, new textures, new scripts and many more modding types simply aren’t available.
So if you see any unique mods for Fallout 4, there’s a good chance they won’t be available on the PS4. There’s no way around this, other than playing the game on an Xbox or PC.
Sanctuary Bridge Fix

What All Settlements Extended does is increase the radius/size of settlements. Which in turn increases the size of the area you can build in, as well as scrap objects in. It’s a great mod if you’re looking to possibly build better security around your settlement or just want them to be larger in general.

This mod spruces up Sanctuary a bit, making it look much cleaner like it does when you first start the game. A lot of players never actually hit the build limit, but it’s still there. After reaching the build limit in your settlement, you can’t build anymore and it’s a bit of a nightmare. It’s possibly done to reduce lag and resources used to run Fallout 4. However you can bypass the limit with this mod available for PS4.
OCDecorator

The OCDecorator mod allows you to take your settlement building and design to another level. It turns items from your inventory into static objects. For example, you can place Nuka Cola bottles on a dining room table, and it will stay there indefinitely. Objects that you place won’t be knocked over randomly, or by your settlers.

This mod aims to add most assets to the Workshop menu inside your settlement, massively improving the variation of objects that can be built. It’s also available on PC & Xbox One, although it was primarily designed to combat Sony’s tight restrictions on external assets. It’s one of the most popular mods on Bethesda.net, and is the best mod for settlements!
