Before servicing/performing maintenance on the machine, electrical power must be physically disconnected; battery plugs must be disconnected from the batteries, or the trailing cable must be unplugged, and warning tags and padlocks shall be applied by a certified electrician. Certified electricians shall perform or direct any electrical work, including any energized testing, repair work in controllers, motors, or other approved compartments, and shall insure that all compartments are properly closed and inspected prior to re-energization. All applicable lock out and tag out procedures must be followed.

Installation Procedure

Installing the Radio AM/FM Gp

Note: Before proceeding with the installation of this kit, make sure that the 571-6164 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready) has been installed first. Refer to Special Instruction , M0105320 , "Installing the 571-6164 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready)", if needed

Note: If the 571-6162 Cover from 571-6164 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready) has been installed already, remove and replace with the new 571-6145 Cover provided by this kit. Replace 8Y-5947 Fastener with 114-6658 Washer and 3T-0851 Locknut. Discard the 571-6162 Cover and 8Y-5947 Fastener.

  1. Insert radio group (7) in to radio cover (4) and fasten using washer (9) and lock nut (10). Torque lock nut (10) to 1.7 ± 0.5 N·m (15 ± 4 lb in). Refer to Illustration 1.

  2. Connect Radio Harness As (6) onto the back of Radio Gp (7) in Slot (A). Refer to Illustrations 2 and 3.

    Note: If 571-6164 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready) has been previously installed, discard the Radio Harness As. from that Kit, and use the 353-1634 Radio Harness As (6) included in this Kit instead.

  3. Remove and discard 345-6143 Cover (B). Install Cover (4). Carefully insert Radio Gp (7) along with Radio Harness As. (6) into Cover (4.). Refer to Illustration 5.

  1. Carefully remove the left-hand Side Cover (D) by removing the Fastener that supports the Cover (D) to the Rear Liner As (E). Remove the three fasteners that support the Headliner (C) to the rear top of the Cab. Discard the Fasteners. Fold the Headliner (C) to expose the Instrument Panel Harness As. Refer to Illustration 6.

    Note: Full removal of Headliner (C) is not necessary

  2. Remove the Right-Hand Side Console As. (F) by first removing the two Screws (G) to the left of the Electronics Group Display and the other two Fasteners (H) below the switches. Discard Fasteners (H). Refer to Illustrations 7 and 8.

  3. Remove the Plugs (J) on Right-Hand Side Console As. (F) that are not in use. Remove Plug (K) to grab Right-Hand Side Console As. (F) from the holes exposed after removing the Plugs. Discard Plug (K). Refer to Illustration 9.
  4. Pull away the entire Right-Hand Side Console As (F). Start from the top side where Right-Hand Side Console As (F) contacts with the top of the Canopy As.

    Note: There is a tab on top of Right-Hand Side Console As. (F) that locks Right-Hand Side Console As. (F) in place. Be cautious not to break this tab when pulling the console away.

    Note: Movement of the Console As. will be restrained by the Harness As. connected to each one of the Switches, Knob As, and Electronics Group. Exercise caution when removing the Console As. Carefully unplug each Harness As, if necessary.

    Note: Retain the two Screws (G) and Plugs (J) for reinstallation later in this procedure.

  5. Pull the Connector from Radio Harness As. (6) through Grommet (8) and up through the hole on Plate (L) near the rear window. Refer to Illustration 10. Install Grommet (8) onto the Plate.

    Note: If the 345-6174 Grommet from 571-6164 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready) has been installed already, remove this grommet and replace with Grommet (8) from the 571-6166 Bluetooth Radio Kit.

  6. Route Radio Harness As. (6) along Instrument Panel Harness As. (M) and upward towards the top of the Cab.

    Note: Before strapping Radio Harness As. (6), make sure that there is enough slack to connect the Microphone. If necessary, coil and strap any excess cable from the Harness after connecting the Microphone

  7. Begin strapping Radio Harness As. (6) to Instrument Panel Harness As. (M) by using five Cable Straps (1). Refer to Illustration 11.

  8. Continue attaching Radio Harness As. (6) to Instrument Panel Harness As. (M) using three Cable Straps (1). Refer to Illustration 12.

  9. Continue attaching Radio Harness As. (6) to Instrument Panel Harness As. (M) using three Cable Straps (1) at the locations shown in Illustration 13.
  10. Replace the Headliner, the Left-Hand Side Cover, the Plugs, and the Right-Hand Console back to original locations. Use the provided six Fasteners (3), if necessary.

  1. Connect Microphone (5) to the end Connector on Radio Harness As. (6). Insert Microphone (5) onto the Console on the open slot right below the Control Knob As. until Microphone (5) snaps into place. Refer to Illustrations 14 and 15.
  2. Use some of the provided Seal (2) on the rear of the Radio Gp. (7) to protect the wires and connections.

Connecting the Radio to the Cab Harness

  1. Connect the End Connector from 9U-8746 Coaxial Cable As (P) to the appropriate slot on the rear of the Radio Console (7). Hand tighten the other end of 9U-8746 Coaxial Cable As (P) to 8E-1118 Antenna As (R) that was previously installed, as indicated in Special Instruction , REHS8710 , "Installing the 388-8283 Radio Installation Gp (Radio Ready)". Make sure that 9U-8746 Coaxial Cable As (P) passes through Hole (N) on the Canopy Plate and right next to the Bracket. This action will protect the Cable from movement of the arms.
  2. Connect the Receptacle from the 200-5728 Radio Harness As (Connection AC-2) onto the appropriate slot on the rear of the Radio Console. Connect the other end of 200-5728 Radio Harness As that contains 3E-3388 Connector Receptacle As (Connection AC-1) to 155-2264 Connector Plug As (Connection C-C10). Ensure that the connection corresponds to the one shown in Table 2.

  3. Install Grommet (2) in to larger hole on the 571-6145 Coverwith the microphone cable and radio harness. Install Grommet (8) in the smaller hole with the antenna cable. Refer to Illustration 17. Ensure that the slit is pointing down for both and apply RTV sealant around the wires and cables where the wires enter the grommets.
