Play the new Chess Piece Decor Pikmin Event Challenge and get the new Chess Piece Decor Pikmin to complete a full set of 14 chess pieces, including the 4 existing types released last year.
International Chess Day is just around the corner on July 20, so there’s no better time to enjoy a good game of chess.
In this event, the time when you collect the gold seedlings influences the chess piece color your Pikmin will wear. Colors rotate weekly, so keep participating and add them all to your squad!

Play the event challenge to get Chess Piece Decor Pikmin gold seedlings!
Each completed mission will earn you a reward that could be anything from petals, nectar, gold seedlings, or other valuable in-game items.
Here’s a list of the missions in this event:
Please note that the Chess Piece event challenge’s seasonal flowers will change from hydrangeas and calla lilies to lilies and the new July flower starting at 0:00 local time on July 1st. You’ll see this change reflected in the next mission post-switch. Additionally, the shop will continue to carry calla lily and hydrangea petals for purchase until July 20th.
When you complete a mission in the event challenge, you’ll get a reward to collect on the widget. Please note that you won’t be able to progress to the next stage until you’ve received all the rewards, so make sure to collect them before moving on to the next mission.
When you clear a stage and the big flower at the center goes into full bloom, you’ll receive a guaranteed Chess Piece gold seedling as a reward.
The gold seedlings you get from the event challenge will grow into one of the 14 types of Chess Piece Decor Pikmin. These include red, yellow, blue, purple, white, winged, or rock Pikmin in both black and white chess pieces. Please be aware that there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to get all 14 types.
In this event challenge, the color of the chess piece that the Decor Pikmin will wear (black or white) changes weekly. Here’s the schedule:
June 22 to June 28, July 6 to July 12:
Gold seedlings will grow into Chess Piece Decor Pikmin with white pieces.
June 29 to July 5, July 13 to July 20:
Gold seedlings will grow into Chess Piece Decor Pikmin with black pieces.
During the Chess Piece Decor Pikmin event challenge, the option to use coins to double gold seedlings rewards will be discounted to 399 coins! Take this chance to quickly add all 14 Decor Pikmin to your squad.
Please note that the Premium Event Pass will not be available for the Chess Piece event challenge.

The Chess Piece Decor Pikmin will have increased strength in all mushroom battles!
During the event, the Chess Piece Decor Pikmin will have increased strength against all mushrooms, so they will be an essential addition to your squad!
The Chess Piece Decor Pikmin’s enhanced strength will only last until the end of the event on July 20. After that, they will have the same strength as the other Decor Pikmin.
New Mii chess-themed hats to match the Chess Piece Decor Pikmin!
14 new Mii chess-themed hats matching the Chess Piece Decor Pikmin will also be available in the shop for a limited time during the event. These hats include limited special missions that you can complete to obtain a Chess Piece Decor gold seedling to match.
The shop will also be stocked with lots of new Mii costume items like dresses, shirts, and slacks perfect for a full chess-themed ensemble.
Please keep in mind the Mii hats available in the shop will switch between white hats and black hats every week. Here’s the schedule:
White hats (7 types):
June 22 to June 28, July 6 to July 12, July 20 to July 21.
Black hats (7 types):
June 29 to July 5, July 13 to July 21
*The Limited Mii hat special missions can be cleared until August 31, 11:59 PM
*You can get multiple Limited Mii costumes to try multiple special missions at the same time
*Only the 14 chess piece Mii hats carry special missions. All other Mii costumes do not come with special missions, and they’re not event-exclusive.
New Limited Event Packs!
Check out the shop for the limited event packs that will help you progress in the Chess Piece event challenge. The packs will be updated on July 1 at 0:00 to include the new July flower.
Invite friends to get Chess Piece Decor Pikmin seedlings!
Don’t forget you can also get Chess Piece Decor Pikmin by inviting friends to play Pikmin Bloom from June 22 to July 20. When your friend starts playing the game using your code, you will receive a gold seedling that will grow into a red, yellow, blue, purple, white, winged, or rock Chess Piece Decor Pikmin.
*Please note that Gold Seedlings obtained through inviting friends will grow into Black or White Chess Piece Decor Pikmin at random.
*In order for the Chess Piece Decor Pikmin to display correctly, please use app version v71.1 or later.
