Prestained Protein Ladder ab116027 is a three-color protein standard with 10 pre-stained proteins covering a wide range molecular weights for 10 to 180 kDa. Proteins are covalently coupled with a blue chromophore except for two reference bands (one green and one red band at 25 kDa and 75 kDa respectively) when separated on SDS-PAGE (Tris-glycine buffer).

This product was previously called Prism Ultra Protein Ladder (10 - 180 kDa).

This prestained protein ladder is designed for monitoring protein separated during SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, verification of Western transfer efficiency on membranes (PVDF, nylon, or nitrocellulose) and for approximate sizing of proteins. The ladder is supplied in gel loading buffer and is ready to use.

Do not heat, dilute, add reducing agent before loading.

    Key product features:

Images

  • SDS-PAGE - Prestained Protein Ladder - Mid-range molecular weight (10 - 180 kDa) (ab116027)

Gel 1: Tris-Glycine (~4-20%) Gel 2: Bis-Tris (12%) MOPS buffer Gel 3: Bis-Tris (10%) MES buffer Pre-stained molecular weight standards have a differing mobility and as a consequence varying apparent molecular weight when run in distinct SDS-PAGE buffer systems. The variance in pH of alternative buffers affects the charge of the labelled protein standard and its binding capacity for SDS. The apparent molecular weight of this marker has been determined by calibration against an unstained ladder in each electrophoresis condition.

Very easy to use protein ladder in the range from 10-180 kDa. Good separation in SDS-PAGE and nice transfer onto nitrocellulose membrane. The gel used was a 10% Tris-Bis gel from life-technologies. the protein ladder was used at 2.5µl per well.

FAQs

What are the prestained protein molecular weight standards? ›

Prestained Protein Ladder ab116028 is a three-color protein standard with 12 pre-stained proteins covering a wide range of molecular weights from 10 to 245 kDa.

What is the mid range protein ladder? ›

Western blot - Prestained Protein Ladder - Mid-range molecular weight (10 - 180 kDa) (ab116027)This image is courtesy of an anonymous Abreview. Very easy to use protein ladder in the range from 10-180 kDa. Good separation in SDS-PAGE and nice transfer onto nitrocellulose membrane.

What is the prestained protein standard? ›

The Color Prestained Protein Standard, Broad Range is a mixture of highly pure, recombinant, prestained proteins, covalently coupled with a blue chromophore, and two reference bands (one orange and one green at 72 kDa and 26 kDa, respectively), that resolves into 11 sharp bands when electrophoresed.

What is a high molecular weight protein ladder? ›

Various manufacturers offer high molecular weight protein ladders for applications in protein separation and detection. These protein standards are comprised of a set of purified proteins of known molecular weight and tend to contain larger, heavier proteins. The upper limit of protein size can exceed 250 kDa.

What is Neb prestained protein standard? ›

Sizes range from 10 to 250 kDa which is ideal for accurate molecular weight determination for a wide range of expressed proteins. We offer a blue prestained protein standard, as well as a colored prestained protein standard with multi-colored bands for easy identification.

What is considered a high molecular weight protein? ›

Many high-molecular-mass (HMM) proteins (MW>100 kDa) are known to be involved in cytoskeleton, defence and immunity, transcription and translation in higher eukaryotic organisms.

What is considered mid ladder? ›

The concept of mid ladder in Clash Royale isn't just about trophy range; it's about the chaotic blend of deck variety and player skills that define this gaming space. While some players believe mid ladder begins at 3,000 trophies, others argue it extends up to 7,000.

What is the difference between prestained and unstained protein ladder? ›

However, an unstained protein ladder can only be visualized following staining with Coomassie or a similar non-specific protein stain. Unstained protein ladders are more accurate for sizing proteins, as the dyes used in prestained ladders can slightly distort the apparent size of the protein ladder proteins on the gel.

What is the prestained protein ladder for Western blot? ›

Prestained natural protein standards for SDS-PAGE and western blotting provide a quick and easy way to monitor protein separation during electrophoresis and to assess transfer efficiency on blots. Each lot of prestained protein standards is individually calibrated for estimating the MW of sample proteins.

What is the purpose of the prestained standards? ›

Prestained standards allow direct visualization of the proteins' migration during electrophoresis and are useful to assess their subsequent transfer to membranes. Prestained standards can be used for size estimation, however unstained protein standards are recommended for the most accurate size determination.

What is the most bioavailable protein? ›

Whey Protein – Whey is the most bioavailable source of protein. Full stop. Whey Protein Isolate is at the top of the tree as this is the purest form of whey. Absorption is extremely quick which makes it a really popular post-workout option.

What kind of protein is best? ›

Proteins that come from animal sources, such as meat, eggs, and milk, as well as soy and quinoa, are called complete proteins. This means they contain all the essential amino acids the body needs and are the highest-quality protein sources.

What is a low molecular weight protein range? ›

Low MW proteins – generally any protein with a MW less than 20 kDa – are vulnerable to poor resolution and poor retention. Therefore they are challenging to detect with standard SDS-PAGE and Western blotting protocols…but they are not impossible to detect, period.

What is ladder molecular weight? ›

What are Molecular Weight Markers? Molecular weight markers, or ladders, are a set of standards that are used for determining the approximate size of a protein or a nucleic acid fragment run on an electrophoresis gel. These standards contain pre-determined fragment (or protein) sizes and concentrations.

Why is it important to have a molecular weight ladder? ›

Molecular weight markers or protein ladders are useful in estimating the size of proteins that have already been resolved by gel electrophoresis. They also aid in orienting the gel or membrane quickly and monitoring gel migration.

What are the broad range protein molecular weight standards? ›

The Broad Range Protein Molecular Weight Markers consist of nine clearly identifiable bands at convenient molecular weights. The protein sizes are 10, 15, 25, 35, 50, 75, 100, 150 and 225kDa.

What is the molecular weight standard of proteins? ›

The standard consists of a wide range of molecular weight bands consisting of 12 proteins in the range of 3.5–260 kDa.

What is the molecular weight of PDI protein? ›
