Croton Beach Is Open*, 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
The beach is open Wednesdays through Sundays through Monday, Sept. 2; weather permitting; no admittance after 6 p.m.; parking and beach admission fees apply. Westchester residency is not required.

*Croton Point Park Beach is scheduled to open to the public on July 3 if the Westchester County Department of Health has deemed that area of the Hudson River safe for swimming. The beach was temporarily closed on June 28, after samples collected exceeded the maximum level of enterococcus bacteria as outlined by the Department’s sanitary code. A third test will be performed on Monday, July 1. If these subsequent samples meet the required safety standards, the beach will be reopened at that time. If the enterococcus bacteria level remains high, the beach will remain closed and will undergo further testing.

A dynamic guest DJ kicks off the festivities at 5 p.m., followed by one of New York City’s most exciting bands, Total Soul, at 7 p.m. Glittering fireworks follow at 9 p.m. The kids-oriented Tailgate Party at the adjoining Clover Road Field is from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Join Parks staff on this mushroom-appreciation walk co-sponsored by the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association. Learn the basics of mushroom identification and their role in our ecosystem. Apart from collections made for identification purposes during the walk, mushrooming in the park is prohibited. Meet at the Kimberly Bridge trailhead.
